Watched the Pittsburgh Steelers vs san diego chargers. Finally it looks like the running game is back in Pittsburgh. I was waiting for Coach Tomlin to make the adjustment and give Rashad Mendenhall a shot. I guess Mendenhall was giving a half-hearted effort in practice thus the decision not to play him in previous games. Combined with the due respect earned by Willie Parker for his watch during which he faithfully carried on the Black & Gold work-ethic pride. Willie is sadly in the twilight of his career... Bless you Willie Parker. Mendenhall & Mr Can-Do Mewelde Moore add a powerful dimension to the Steeler's offense. That spiral Melwelde tossed was sweet, tight, and right-on. Melwelde is an underrated, consistent, versatile player that gets the job done when it needs doing, and is clutch. Mendenhall is a back that needs the touches and once he gets them he steamrolls. He's a bruising type back that can gradually wear down a defense. He'll be even more dangerous when he learns to put his helmet down and run lower. He's young though and this will come with coaching and experience. The Steelers looked like the Steelers in this game. This game re-established my seat on the "Ring 7" bandwagon.
Finally the "Dallas Cowgirls" and Tony Romo came up. Whimpy Tony Romo brought back bitter memories of another famous Dallas Cowboy quarterback... Neil O'Donnell... who once helped Dallas win a SuperBowl against the Steelers, Neil having a perfect quarterback rating when Troy Aikman was on the sidelines. If not for O'Donnell's stellar play for the Cowboys, we would be searching for Ring #8 !!

Just watched a great game in which our beloved Steelers beat the "Towel Stomper" Titans. Here we go 1-0 ... you know the nice thing about Terry Bradshaw is that you never had to have a bottle of Maalox or roll of Tums on hand while watching a game ... with Big Ben it is a different story ... but, as usual he came up big when the chips were on the table.
A couple of extremely rare moments in this game: Yes Hines Ward fumbled ... but what was rare is that I think that was actually the first time I didn't see Hines with his eternal "Florida Sunshine" smile. I was like "wow" I never knew what he looked like without smiling.
Another bit of game trivia, and I believe this is a historical first. Ben Roethlisberger - Santonio Holmes hooked up for the last touchdown scored in the last game of last season ... the SuperBowl of course. Ben and Santonio hooked up for the first touchdown scored in the first game of this season... think about those odds !!
The only sad note was the injury to Troy Palamalu...up to that point he was dominating and stifling the Titans offensive rhythm, and spearheading the Pittsburgh "D". When he went out, there was a very noticeable difference in the defensive flow and the Towel Stomping Titans made some offensive headway. But the rest of the D finally caught on fire and made some good and crucial stops.
The most underrated Steeler is Mewelde Moore. He is a hidden clutch player that was part of the reason we won the SuperBowl last season, and was clutch in this game also, after he was inserted in place of a "flat" Willie Parker. In my opinion, Mendehall and Moore need many more touches. Parker seems to be on the other side of his peak and headed toward the horizon.
Anyway Steeler Nation we are in for another great season of Steeler football..."7" is a very real possibility and I'm already on the bandwagon. Go Steelers !!!

I dont know if any of you have come across this video on youtube, but its pretty funny. Apparently a couple of kids from pittsburgh did a spoof on the coors light commercials with Mike Tomlin and Iron City instead. They have a few up but i was sent this one in the email. They created it for ther super bowl. If you havnt seen it, here it is!

One of the Best Steelers games ever! I've been watching since 1953 and this was really the Best, especially living among the Cardinals. A total team effort led by Big Ben. Congrats Pittsburgh. I'll be wearing Black & Gold everywhere I go today. Thanks to Harold's for providing a Steeler comfort zone in the middle of the desert.

I'm the only Steelers fan at my work and home. The day that they gave employees permission to come in wearing Cardinals grab, I proudly matched in wearing my Steelers hat. Go Steelers, ring #6 this year against the little red birdies.

Dallas Cowboy fans always disgust me .... "America's Team," ... what a friggin joke. I don't agree that the Cleveland Browns are out greatest rival ... Dallas is. In the Steeler historical records the "Steeler" that is a blemish is Neil O'Donnell, Superbowl MVP Quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys. Even in spite of Neil we still almost won that damn SuperBowl.
But my main point concerns "America's" team. The Pittsburgh Steelers are America's team in reality. This team embodies middle class America, "Joe Lunchbox", "Joe six-pack" ... hard working, ass-kicking American's ... the heart of what makes America.
AMERICA's TEAM ... The Pittsburgh Steelers.
SuperBowl 43 ... Go Steelers !!!!!!!!!

The Steeler Nation is composed of many great Americans who carry the torch of freedom, and to those who havn't served in Military service, many hardworking taxpayers and hardworking men and women who are the backbone of those who "Support the troops." The reason the Steelers are so adored is because of these types of people. There is no other team in history that represents the hard working, middle class... people that make this country what it is, than the Pittsburgh Steelers family which comprise Steeler Nation.
I served a tour in Afghanistan and a tour in Iraq. In my two years over there whenever we had a break and could wear civilian cloths, I proudly wore my Steelers garb. When I jogged and trained in 110+ degree desert heat, I always wore a Steelers t-shirt. As a highly decorated combat vet, I was always identified as the "Steeler Sarg" when troops talked about me.
I can't wait to get up to Harold's and be immersed in Black and Gold. We will win and start the other hand.
Bless all the hard working Americans...this is your team. Thanks ... Steeler Ron
