Pittsburgh Steelers fans, are yinz ready for some football? Are yinz ready to party? Hell yeah, I am! I feel like we are like this big Grizzly bear that has been in hibernation, and our opponents this year are like this little bunny, who is just cowering in the corner. As I feel these claws and fangs I am thinking to myself, I know what to do. Can you feel my testosterone? We have just awoken and we’re ready to devour some Falcons, Ravens, Bengals, Brownies, and all those other bunnies out there. I am a predator, I am awake, I am Man hear me ROAR. Yes I have been drinking some Ice cold Iron City beer, and I am feeling the call of the wild…basically I want to pee outside, and I need my feast of Iron city beer and pierogies and Kielbasa.

Yes ffffoooooootbbbbaaaalllllllllll is back! Whoa! Yippee! Ki-ya mother! Ok, I am getting carried away, but can you blame me? It has been over seven months; I need my Pittsburgh Steelers football! Maybe I have a problem but that is why Steelers fans are the best, especially those who hang out in Cave Creek AZ at Harold’s Corral.

Ok, now despite Big Bens four game suspension and the knuckle head’s off season, I will not chastise my brother anymore, not because he doesn’t deserve it, but it is time to support him and believe he has seen the light and realizes what a special deal he has. He should thank God each day and start behaving like a he has been given a gift, and I’m not talking about his private parts. Enough said. He is doing what he needs to do, and if he screws it up again I’m done supporting him, but he is our Black & Gold brother and he is the key for the Steelers success in 2010 season and 2011 post season. That’s correct I did say post season, I do have that feeling. Go get ‘em Big Ben, not the women but the Steelers opponents. See you in week six.

Now, anyone who does not know what the Steelers did in the off season, you need to start paying attention. Our boys did well, with a good draft. Maurkice Pouncey will become a great lineage of Pittsburgh centers and I do like the receivers we got as evident in Latrobe at our first preseason game, Emanuel Sanders and Adrian Brown will see some playing time this year as rookies, and I believe they will challenge Randle El for the 3rd receiver spot. Speaking of Randle El it’s good to see him back, I don’t know what he has left, but one of the greatest plays in Steelers history came from him in SB 40 end around flanker pass to Hines Ward. Are you kidding me? Definitely one of the top 10 plays in Steelers history. Plus all Yinz can break out his Jersey again without spending any cash.

We have a lot planned for this season and I want to welcome everyone back. Hope everyone had a safe and fun summer, but now it is time to get down to Black & Gold business. It all begins August 29th. This Sunday night game is when Harold’s officially kicks off our fan club. It will be the first opportunity to secure your season pass tables, and/or fan club membership.

We are proud to announce this year’s sponsor, Coors and Miller brewing and local distributor Crescent Crown, also the great tasting Finlandia Vodka and their flavored vodkas. They will be the drink of choice for our fans. Fan club membership this year will be the same: $15.00 for the season if you sign up on August 29th or opening day. First 100 people to sign up for fan club on August 29th will receive a free Horrible Harold’s rally towel. This year’s membership will entitle you to receive a club T-shirt (sixburgh design), a club pass and our newsletter via email. The club pass entitles you to receive a 10% discount on all Steelers merchandise. You will also be entitled to purchase one beer every week during a Steelers game for only 10 cents – your choice of any Coors, Coors Light, Miller Lite, and Miller Highlife, Miller 64 or an IronCity product. That’s right! Ice-cold IronCity beer has been replenished since we sold out. So dust off those terrible towels and start practicing our chant “Here we go Steelers, here we go”, everyone in unison. Harold’s will soon be erupting with noise, and it will feel like at Heinz field West once again. Dex will be back with all our favorite Steeler fight songs, and who knows we may even see a table slide!!

Every Sunday morning Harold’s offers an All You Can Eat Breakfast Buffet for only $9.99 Other great news you will be able to purchase your favorite alcoholic drink when we open @ 8am because of the new state law, halleluiah finally a law that makes sense. Drink specials during all Sunday football games are: $4.50 Finlandia Bloody Mary’s, $5 Polomulu bombers Finlandia mango vodka, $4 Mimosas, and $3 Coors, Coors Light, Miller Lite, Miller Highlife, Miller 64 and $3.50 Iron City and IC Light bottles.

If you’re interested in having a season table pass at Harold’s, the August 29th game may be your only opportunity. We do have a few tables and barstools available. You must attend the August 29th game to put your name in for a chance to get a table. A season table pass guarantees your same table through out the season, and discounted admission into Harold’s for post season games. You still need to call in your reservation for each game and identify yourself as a season table pass holder.

Season Table Pass Holders: You will also have a chance to renew your season table, insuring you your spot for weeks to come and creating less confusion for reservations. Members who already have a season pass will have first choice of keeping their existing table or selecting a different one that may be available. Season Table passes will be: $75-per bar stool, a table for 1-4 people $85, a table 5-10 people $170, a table 11-20 people $320.

Please call for reservations: 480-488-1906.

Are you ready for a crazy day of Football; well here you have it Steeler fans. First off there are no regrets, that gets us know where. We dug our self into this hole and we can not gripe about what we need from other teams. I will say this, those horses asses, the so called Indianapolis Colts, sat their starters down in the beginning third quarter and should be ashamed they call themselves an NFL team. You play to win baby, especially if your undefeated, and they call themselves NFL Football players, where was their pride? I guarantee the Colts will not be Champions of the NFL this year because of it.

Ok with that of my chest here is what we need first and foremost, we need to prepare ourselves for a long day of Football starting of course with our game at 11AM against those stinky sea creatures called the Dolphins. Who saw the movie Flipper, well Flipper sucks. Just kidding, I even cried when flipper left but I won’t be crying Sunday when our boys send Flipper out of the playoffs. I like our chances in that game. I know we’ll be on the road but our offense is playing well and Troy may be back for the game. So our boys take care of business and beat the Stinky tunas and we drink about a dozen IC lights, eat some kielbasa and some Pierogies, take some pepto bismal…most of us will need a potty break after that.

Now we watch the ending of the New England Houston game. Why you ask? Because we have to be fans all day. That begins with a Steelers win, and then at the same time we are cheering for, I cant believe I am saying this, rooting for the New England Patsy’s. I know it seems to break our beloved Black & Gold code of conduct, but we need the Patriots to beat the Texans.

After The Patsy’s beat the Texans then we need to drink another dozen IC Lights and start rooting for the Oakland raiders, you know that dynasty of a team that spanked our boys at Heinz Field. Yes, I know probably not going to happen but if the Raiders beat us they can beat the Ravens. If that happens then we get to Party like it was 1999, or should I say 1989 when the Steelers made the playoffs with a 9 and 7 record. If the Raiders win I do a second table slide and drink another dozen IC Lights. If the Raiders lose and Ravens win, which who cares I still drink a dozen IC lights because we still have a chance.

At this point though, we need to prepare for the Sunday night game, Cincinnati Bungles versus the New York Jets. Yes we still are cheering and believe in our boys because we are the Black and Gold faithful and are equal to no one when it comes to our fans, can you feel me, plus by now we have 2 cases of beer in us and, are ready to go. So the toughest part of the equation, and the only reason I say tough because even Myron Cope would have a hard time with this, we start rooting for, hold on a minute I need a double shot of Jaeger before I can even say this, ok I’m ready we have to root for the Cincinnati Bungles. I know how hard it is going to be for some, but as fans we must do what we have to do.

Ok, to recap we need to be ready to drink at least 2 cases of Iron City Beer eat at least one order of Kielbasa, one order of Pierogies, plus a Primati brothers sandwich well at least a Harold’s knockoff sandwich, and then take about five Tums and at least a 10 minute bathroom break between the games. Harold’s will provide the food the beer, the energy and the bathrooms with extra air freshener, all yinz guys need to do is show up with the Tums and a Terrible towel, and a safe ride home. We must wake the Spirit of Myron Cope for this Sunday so get those Terrible towels ready to go. Sunday will be a great day and “I’ve got a feeling Pittsburgh is going to the Super Bowl”

Ok if your are confused by this here is a non dramatic scenario of what we need to happen for Pittsburgh to clinch a playoff spot:

1) PIT win + HOU loss or tie + NYJ loss or tie
2) PIT win + HOU loss or tie + BAL loss or tie
3) PIT win + NYJ loss or tie + BAL loss or tie + DEN loss or tie

So I hope to see Yinz all here for a full day of Football at Harold’s Corral, and cheer our boys into the playoffs. I believe the question is do you?

Ok Steelers fans, December 7th 1941; a day that will live in infamy, a day that began the greatest generation in American History; a day that tested our American spirit and faith and it is that day that is inspiring me to write this Steelers news letter. First and foremost I pay respect to all veterans and the greatest generation of Americans, they lived through The Great Depression, the bombing of Pearl Harbor and WWII. It is only from respect that I am writing this metaphoric Newsletter. Yes, as Steelers fans our fleet stationed on the banks of three rivers and got a surprise aerial attack from the Oakland Raiders. Yes, we uncharacteristically let our guard down, and were not prepared for the mad bomber from the west coast shore. Bruce Gradkowski led the attack. Bruce reins from my high school in the Burgh and is a Seton La Salle Rebel wish he would have picked a different day to have a game of a lifetime. Just like 1941, we are shocked and depressed and our fleet of black and gold playoff hopes is almost completely destroyed, but just as America did in 1941, we will fight back. We must rise from that dreadful day and have that Black and Gold and American Spirit, a spirit that tells us no matter what, we will never give up. When we are kicked down and no one else believes in us, we rise up and overcome. We will work harder and become stronger to overcome all challenges to succeed. We will succeed because we believe, and because we are the men of steel and we will not go quietly, as Tomlin stated. It is time for our boys to become men and time to attack and fight for our playoff lives. It is time for defense to play like the Steel curtain; it is time for that team to band together as men and the teammates as brothers. I hear all the criticism and I also get caught up and criticize what we have done or did not do. The fact of the matter is we have had the greatest defense over the last few years so when we see those 4th quarter leads vanish; we are confused, disheartened, pissed off. I feel your pain and maybe even more so, but I also know this is almost the same team and same coaches, from last year. We all remember what happened last year yes we won the Super Bowl. I believe in Dick Lebeau the greatest defensive mind of my generation. I am disappointed to be 6 and 6 and watch our team struggle; we can bitch and yell at coaches and players, but that gets us nowhere. We need to put Sunday’s game in the past, and remember who we are (Six-Time Super Bowl Champions) we have four games to make our mark and when we win all 4, and with a little of divine intervention we will be in the playoffs for four more games. Pearl Harbor is an example why we should never give up, and never say it can’t be done, we are the greatest fans and it is time to show it. You should all remember our 2005 season where we needed to win our last four games just to make the playoffs (sounds familiar). We did it that year because we as fans believed and the band of Black and Gold brothers believed, in my opinion it was that Steelers faith that propelled that team to its 5th Super Bowl victory. Thursday night is a day we turn this season around it is when we as fans and when our beloved Pittsburgh Steelers show their character, their greatness, it is when we begin to fight, and when we win. You gotta to believe baby, wake the spirit of Myron Cope, wave that terrible towel, come to Harold’s and cheer and support the greatest football team ever. As on December 7th 1941 everyone thought we were done and counted us out. As in 2005 everyone said are season is over, we know the outcome of both events baby, so you better believe.

To help Yinz guys believe even more and because it is the season Harold’s will be going all out. Harold’s will be giving away to EVERY Harold’s Steeler Fan a FREE Harold’s Horrible Towel Sb 43 edition, and we are also giving our fan club members who have the fan club badge an extra10 cent beer, so they will receive (2) 10. cent beers, “wow an extra IC light , or Coors light, that’s better than Santa” Plus KUPD and the Coors light girls will be here giving away other free stuff. Tis the season to beat Cleveland fa la la la, See yinz Thursday, December 10th @ 6:20 pm. for kickoff. GO STEELERS!!!

A TIME TO BE THANKFUL

In times like these when our 6 time world champions lose to a 2 and 7 team, and are behind the Cincinnati Bungles in our division, we need to remember what to be thankful for. My list is a simple one that I am sure is similar to yours. I am thankful for God, our Country, Family and friends and our health. Each one of these things are oh so important at least for me.

God for example, God is where all blessings come from; in particular the creation of our beloved black and gold, 6 time champions, our men of steel, the Pittsburgh Steelers. The miracle of birth in regards to Art Rooney, Myron Cope and many more who blessed our team with their dedicated lives to make the Steelers so special.

I am also thankful for our Country and especially to all of the men and women who defend it daily. I am thankful and pray to all of those Men and Women who have given the ultimate sacrifice so we unique and blessed citizens of the United Sates of America can enjoy our freedoms. All Freedoms: from going to Church on Sundays to Cheering for one of the greatest teams in the history of professional sports. Remember to always say thanks when in presence of a US soldier. I personally thank all the men and women who have kept this great Country of ours free.

I am also thankful for my family. Like our Steelers, my family has its ups and downs, and at times they’re like the Steelers special teams. They are part of my team and without them it would be hard to win in the game of life.

Lets be thankful for all and every friend we have. On Sundays I am surrounded by 600 Steeler friends, some who have been friends for over 30 years some who have been friends for only 5 minutes, but each are special to me. I know every Sunday I will be able to forget about all those other worries in life and cheer with my friends all 600 + of yinz., I thank you all.

I am thankful for my health and for my healthy wife and kids. I pray each night for the health of my family, friends. I also want to add I quick prayer for Big Ben and Troy Polamalu and the rest of the teams health. We all have someone we know who is in pain or very sick there is nothing harder then seeing someone you love who is not feeling well, so be thankful for your health and pray for those who struggle with health problems.

So as you can see there are so many things to be thankful for, and for some reason I associate them with the Pittsburgh Steelers. From a recent trip to watch our beloved team play in Denver we should be very thankful that we are Pittsburgh Steeler fans. We are the most blessed team in the NFL to go to Denver and see the fans take over the city, the tailgate and the Stadium. It is a true testament to the black and gold and you the fans that make them so special. So be thankful this season and God Bless.

DENBURGH

Wow what a representation of Steeler fans at a mile high. If you haven’t read the article from a Denver news columnist please check it out in the article below and boy is it ever so true. I thought there was a Yinzer convention in Denver, nothing but black and gold representing. I am serious we doubled the Denver fans in the parking lot tailgating and had about a third of the crowd inside the stadium. Awesome baby!! As for your favorite Black and Gold club we did our part we had 20 members in Denver representing, not to shabby. I want to thank each member for attending if there was no interest or support we would not be able to do the things we do. I was able to secure rooms at the same hotel the Steelers stayed at and many of our fans were blessed to get autographs and pictures taken from some of their favorite players: Heath Miller, James Farrior, and even Jerome Bettis. Way to go Will and Haley and all the others who made that trip possible. Check out the pictures from Harold’s Steeler Fan Club representing in Denver. I will also say what a great game.

DENVER POST’S ARTICLE ABOUT MONDAY NIGHT’S GAME

Whose stadium is this, anyway?
By Woody Paige
The Denver Post

The Stealers appropriated the stadium, purloined three passes, took the dais and stole “Monday Night Football” from the Broncos. Steal Deal, 28-10.

The Steelers came with the no-huddle; the Broncos replied with the all-muddle.
A revolting number of the Broncos’ players and coaches and a repulsive number of the Broncos’ alleged “fans” were no-shows and no-clues.

The 20,000 season-ticket holders who sold their seats — in every section, on every level — to the Steelers’ true loyalists should be ashamed. That wasn’t a home game for the Broncos. It was a neutralized site.
With 2 1/2 minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the stadium had been emptied out — of orange pompom party poopers. All who remained were Women & Men In Black waving the Terrible Towels in victory.
Sick effort, Denver. If you don’t want your tickets, at least scalp them to people who bleed orange, blue, mustard and brown.
Super effort, Pittsburgh. The Steal City can snatch a stadium as well as the Continental Army captured Fort Ticonderoga. While the Steelers’ masses were cheering Ben Roethlisberger’ s three touchdown passes, the Broncos’ (reduced) faithful were booing Kyle Orton’s three interceptions.
Sick effort, Broncos, who played the chumps to the Steelers’ Super Bowl champs. The Broncos brought the Paper Curtain Defense and Monochrome Offense.
The Stealers stole an Orton pass for an interception returned for a touchdown and a 7-3 lead in the second quarter. The Stealers stole an Orton pass in the fourth quarter and scored in three plays for a 21-10 lead. And, for bad measure, the Stealers stole Orton’s final pass of the game.
“Once we went to the no-huddle (offense),” Roethlisberger said, “it turned things around.”
The opposing team is supposed to wear out at altitude, but Pittsburgh got friskier as the game wore on. The Broncos are supposed to be running the no-huddle, hurry-up offense to wear down the opposing team. But Josh McDaniels wants to shorten games, not lengthen them, with his dink-a-dink- a-don’t offense.
The Steelers’ Rashard Mendenhall must have felt a rush of oxygen. He blew past the Broncos for 155 yards. Correll Buckhalter and Knowshon Moreno were in no rush — 14 carries for 27 yards.
The Day-Glo Orange shoes of Brandon Marshall were no match for the gold feet of four Steelers receivers who had 20 receptions.
“We became one-dimensional,” McDaniels said.
How about none-dimensional?
The Broncos are 6-2 at the midway juncture of the season but should have a better-feeling texture, because few outside or, even, inside the locker room believed the Broncos would be so lofty on Nov. 9. But the performances in Baltimore and at home (home?) this month have been more septic tank than antiseptic salve.
The Broncos have been outscored 58-17 and have permitted the Chargers to get back in the race.
Just as alarming, the Broncos have not scored in five of their past eight quarters; they have yet to score a touchdown on their first possession this season (but did burp a field goal after the opening kickoff against Pittsburgh); and the only touchdown scored on Monday night was not by the offense, but on a scoop-and- score fumble return.
One offensive touchdown in two games! That efficient offense managed by Orton has become ineffective and unmanageable. New school has become old-fashioned.
“We just can’t listen to all this stuff,” said Robert Ayers, who did score the Broncos’ only touchdown, and he isn’t a running back. “Good teams recover from things like this.”
What may help the Broncos recover most is not an improved offense or a return of the defense that was MMA tough in the first five games. The Washington Redskins will help most.
The Washington offense is as mobile as a monument.
“We lost to two good football teams,” Orton said. “Move on and get ready for Washington.” He didn’t call Washington a good football team.
This was a night when the Broncos’ followers could have ripped the players. But it also was a night when Marshall could have been praised if he had chosen to rip on the fans. Marshall once criticized the crowd for leaving early. Part of the crowd didn’t arrive on Monday night.
The Steelers’ tailgate party in the parking lot was even larger than the Broncos’. The Steelers travel well. One young man told me he had ridden a bus from Pittsburgh for 36 straight hours to get to the game. “I am afraid to fly, so I’m the John Madden of Steelers Nation.” Only his bus has Greyhound on the side. But his long ride back to Pittsburgh will be sweeter now.
The Steelers and zealots were thieves in the night, and the Broncos and their advocates (those who didn’t sell out) stood there and meekly accepted it.

OVER HALF WAY HOME

Half way home to what you ask? I will tell you, baby our run for a seventh Lomardi trophy. For all of you who don’t believe, we are on our way to our 7th title, move to Cleveland, for the rest of Yinz, “here we go steelers here we go”. There are some definitive things about this years team, #1 Polamalu is heart and soul of that defense, the Flying Hawaiian when in the game is a game changer. The fact is, for us to go far we need some people to step up or step out of the organization. #2 Special teams coach and players have cost us two games this year unacceptable in my book. It is time to put some of our defensive studs on special teams, and possibly a new coach. I know we can turn it around or Ill go back to the Burgh. and table slide our special teams coach. #3 Bruce Arians are you kidding?? 1st and goal on the 7 yard line and you go empty backfield and pass the ball, how about play action at least, (hello Mcfly, anyone home). Guess what happened yep Big Ben gets picked off and we get no points. Ok it is simple Kansas City is one of the worst rush defenses in the NFL and Rashard Mendenhal is having a good season and running hard why not run the ball. Can someone throw some frozen pierogies at Arians to wake him up! Yes, Big Ben is awesome, but he has thrown 3 red zone interceptions this year. I will take 3 points instead of a turnover. Jimmy you need to call Arians again and tell him to pull his head out of his Arse. #4 As always Cleveland still sucks. #5 Every game for the rest of the season is a big game especially this Sunday Night game, in Baltimore, and believe me brother we need a victory. I want to see all of Yinz. HERE!!!!

SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL IS COMING

I think we got a little complacent after winning our 6th SB ring and it is hard to focus on football when it is over 100 frickin’ degrees. I know that is no excuse! My suggestion is to drink a case of IC or Coors light beer, eat a pound of Kielbasa and pierogies and lock yourself up in the bathroom with the Steeler SB edition of Sports illustrated and some pumpkin spice potpourri and start focusing on our beloved team. We are the best fans in the NFL and we never lose faith. I will say I woke up this morning, went outside and there was a slight chill in the air; I know 60 degrees is not a chill but it worked for me. “For me it signifies that summer turns to fall, and the leaves change into brilliant colors, painting the landscapes of the North-east, and when the birds’ God-given senses feel the change of the season and begin their migration from North to the South. The time has arrived; the time when the mere mortal men of Latrobe are transformed into Deities. These Gods of iron and coal that are so loved and worshiped by disciples all across this grand world are ready to take their place in history once again.” I love that quote, its mine by the way. Ok listen, I know we are all freaking out, a 1 and 2 frickin’ start, losing to the Cincinnati Bungles, what the F?! Can it get any worse? Well, only if we would of lost the stinking Browns. I know we are discouraged for our Super bowl champs, blowing a back to back fourth quarter lead, that’s unacceptable. I was so pissed that I through my Primanti Bros. sandwich at the TV last week…at least it wasn’t my IC beer. 4th and 10 and we can’t make a tackle. I have to apologize to Ben and Mimi Fast I think some of my coleslaw might have ended up on their table. That kind of behavior is uncharacteristic, but it was necessary. Please, who hasn’t thrown a Primanti Bros. sandwich at the television. I will say I do not encourage that behavior, but it’s better than ripping out a urinal in our bathroom. Well black and gold faithful, it’s time to turn it around and it all starts with us, the fans, the pride of Steeler nation. So all you fans we must keep the faith and we must believe that we are the six time Super bowl champs, The Pittsburgh Steelers. The point being, September is great because we can stop cheering for the Pirates, we know their not going to have a winning season again and focus our attention to our beloved football season. The fact is September is when a football team starts to get a feel for each other but wins and loses do not matter as much in September as the do in the months to follow. Look at Tony Romo QB for the Dallas Cowgirls, best record in September last 3 years, but how many Super bowl rings does he have? Nada, nix, ni, zero zilch zippo.

STEELER FOOTBALL NOTES: I must say I don’t understand how we are 1 and 2; I feel we are playing good football, not indicative of our record though. Let’s look at last year: our concern was protection for Big Ben and the offensive line. The o-line has played well even though we have not established the run like I wish we would have and the protection from Ben has been great. What I am most disappointed about is Mendenhall, where is he and hello, it’s time to step up! We need to be able to get that 1 or 2 yard run to keep drives alive, we haven’t done that. They have resigned Carey Davis from last year; maybe he will provide the sparkin or running game. I love what our rookie receiver Mike Wallace has brought to the table, he can actually catch the ball, and man can he fly. Note to Limas Sweed you will be playing for the browns soon, it is time to catch the ball. Mike Tomlin says he doesn’t have a dog house but if he did Sweed would be there. On another note our defense is playing well, but they need to play better and to give up two forth quarter leads, I don’t get it. I know we have injuries but it is the NFL, all teams have injuries that’s no excuse. James Harrison are you kidding me one sack, please, I know your being held every play but that did not stop you last year. I think Lebeau will fix that problem this week and I feel sorry for Phillip who will drown in the 3 Rivers. We have one pissed off defense that is going top make some one pay and that will be Phillip cry me a River. I want yinz to watch LB Lawrence Timmons, I think this kid is going to step up big time.

Hey fans I am making a personal call to yinz guys who are part of the best damn Steeler bar period. Once again, our past great Steeler player has called upon me personally to rally support from our great fan club. Andy Russell former Steeler LB who has been to Harold’s a handful of times has asked for our support. Andy has a charitable foundation that raises money for causes such as prostate cancer. This charity is close to my heart because my father has prostate cancer and is a survivor. We once again are doing a raffle to help Andy raise money please read the information below, and in the next couple of weeks if you can please purchase a ticket for $20 to win an all expense trip back to the Burgh for a Steeler game and dinner with Andy. This is a Steeler fan’s once in a lifetime opportunity. Please show your support. Thank You.

Steelers Fan Club Raffle – 2009
for the benefit of Andy
Russell Celebrity Classic Benefactors

Thank you for your willingness to support the Andy Russell Celebrity Classic via the sale of the Steelers Fan Club raffle tickets. Proceeds from your efforts will be shared among the regular beneficiaries of Andy’s golf event …. those being The Walter L. Bent Fund for Prostate Cancer at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and the Andy Russell Charitable Foundation for youth organizations.

The willing ticket will be drawn in Pittsburgh at the offices of Andy Russell, on or about November 12, 2009. Prizes are as follows:

Grand Prize:

Roundtrip airfare for 4 to Pittsburgh (Max. $2,000 for airfare, U.S. – Domestic travel only)

2 rooms, 2 nights – OMNI William Penn Hotel

4 Club Level seats at Heinz Field & pre-game reception (Steelers vs. Raiders 12/6/09)

Dinner for 4 with Andy Russell (Jerome Bettis’ Grill 36)

Luxury car service to and from airport

2nd Prize:

Hines Ward Autographed Authentic Steelers Jersey

This Sunday, October 4th, kickoff is at 5:20 pm. Harold’s is going all out so we can short circuit the SD chargers. That’s right, it’s time for the Steeler Polka. Harold’s will be playing all your favorite Steeler fight songs to put you in the mood. We will also be giving away prizes from KUPD whose DJ’s will be here, and It’s going to be awesome baby! Coors girls will be giving away T-shirts, hats and other cool stuff. In addition Harold’s is going to offer yinz Steelers fans, based off a Steeler victory a 20% discount off your food bill that night only.

At this point you’re probably asking yourself what’s the big deal? Why is Harold’s going all out this Sunday? The big deal is that it’s a “must win” for the Steelers against a good Charger team at home, It’s going to be a tough game, we need to win. We all know going 1 and 3 when Baltimore is undefeated will make it almost impossible to win the division. Plus what could be better than having some great food, drinking some cold beer and being together with over 500 of your best friends (Steeler fans) to watch the Steelers kick the @#$% out of San Diego. What the hell kind of name is the Chargers anyhow, it reminds me of Enron the energy co. that fraudulently cost Americans millions of dollars. I’ll see yinz at Harold’s for kickoff. Bring your terrible towels and wear your sacred Black & Gold.

There was no greater moment than Mario hoisting up the Stanley Cup and kissing it. Mario deserved it more than anyone! That was awesome. What a seven game series; calamari anyone? I don’t know why I was in that comatose state… could have been from all of those IC Lights I drank during the Super Bowl; or it could be from watching the Pirates go for the record of futility in baseball. Sixteen loosing seasons – ouch , but they have an awesome ballpark! Whatever the reason, the Steelers football giant inside of me has awakened with the start of camp and the anticipation of our first Steelers party at Harold’s on August 13th against the AZ Cardinals. Let’s party, boys and girls! The champions are back! That’s right, folks, Harold’s gets to start the party early this year since our first preseason game will be televised against the AZ redbirds. Obviously the game is nowhere close in importance to the last time we played the Cards, but we will have a hell of a party – Pittsburgh Style and Champion Style.

A Call to Arms This Thursday @ Harold’s Corral 7:55am

First course of business: this Thursday Channel 10 is coming to Harold’s with weatherman Cory Mcluskey to do a live broadcast. I am issuing to all Steelers fans a call to arms: Cory is rumored to be bringing or attempting to bring Cardinal fans to our sacred ground. This call of arms reaches out to all who bleed the Black and Gold. Come one, come all! Bring your Terrible Towels and Steelers garb to fight this so-called coup on Harold’s soil. What yinz need to do is show up at Harold’s before 8:00am on Thursday to enjoy a complimentary breakfast and show your never-wavering Steelers loyalty. Please call Harold’s at 480-488-1906 and let us know if you will be attending the Channel 10 news segment and how many are coming.

I’ve got a feeling!! I know, I know… we are already going to the Super Bowl, but I’ve got a feeling that Pittsburgh is going to WIN the Super Bowl. It is time again to show everyone why the Steelers are the most historic franchise in the NFL. It validates the greatest fans in the world: yinz guys. I am so proud to have the home of the greatest, largest, most notable Steelers fan club in the WORLD. First of all, no disrespect to any other Steelers bar – no matter how big or small, we’re all part of one big passionate never-ending love of the Pittsburgh Steelers. I will say this about Harold’s: we’re in the middle of enemy territory, in a small town Cave Creek AZ. 2500 miles from our beloved city, yet yinz guy made it happen. Make what happen you ask?

Over 3500 (and counting!) Terrible Towel-waving Steelers fan reservations for the Super Bowl Game

My national broadcast debut on ESPN 2 this past Monday with a promise to come back and talk about our victor Super Bowl party: A fan’s dream, I was on First Take, a morning show on ESPN 2, interviewed by Jay Crawford. Yoi and double yoi! I hope I did you proud, Mr. Myron Cope.

We will have at least 3 local networks broadcasting live from Harold’s on Super Bowl Sunday: ABC 15, NBC 12 and Arizona’s Channel 3.

ESPN is rumored to pull video footage and show it on their stations.

Wow, can you believe it baby? I had fans calling me from all over the country to thank me for doing Steelers Nation proud with my interview on ESPN. My response: it’s not me that makes this happen, it is our crazy Black and Gold-loving fans in Arizona making it happen! I thank yinz guys for making Harold’s a special, sacred place for Steelers fans.

Crowd Will Be Second Only to the Number of Fans in Tampa Bay for the Game

Harold’s is largest Steelers bar in the Country– Raffle of autographed Steelers memorabilia expected to raise funds for Hunkapi Horse Program, Hope for Kids, and other charities

(CAVE CREEK, Ariz.) – Next Sunday, while most of Arizona will be wearing Cardinal Red to cheer their team in the Super Bowl, up to 4,000 Pittsburgh Steelers fans from throughout Arizona will be waving their “terrible towels,” singing polka and Steelers fight songs, and devouring lots of Primanti Brothers sandwiches, Iron City beer, and other Pittsburgh delicacies – in a tiny, Western town in the Arizona desert, some 2,500 miles away from their beloved city.

Danny Piacquadio, managing partner of Harold’s Cave Creek Corral, 6895 E. Cave Creek Rd. in Cave Creek, describes the scene as “surreal.” The number of fans expected to descend upon Cave Creek exceeds the entire town’s population.

“We have fans that are coming from California, Washington, Nevada, and Pittsburgh. In Arizona, fans for the season games come from as far away as Lake Havasu, Prescott, and Casa Grande,” Piacquadio said. “We’re excited that the Cardinals advanced to the Super Bowl, and we welcome Cardinals fans to our party. No matter who your favorite team, this party will be one for the books!”

The Steelers/Cardinals game begins at 4 p.m., but fans will begin arriving at noon. In preparation of Game Day, Harold’s is stocking up on Iron City and Iron City Light beer and will offer Budweiser specials all day Sunday. Beer and liquor suppliers will also be giving away T-shirts and hats.

There is a $10 cover charge. The first 500 people will get Harold’s version of the Super Bowl XLIII “Terrible Towel.” Harold’s will also raffle off autographed Steelers memorabilia to raise funds for Hunkapi Horse Program, Hope for Kids, and other charities.

In addition to Harold’s parking, shuttle buses will run from available parking lots in the Town’s Center.

As one of Arizona’s historic establishments, Harold’s dates back to 1935 and offers patrons a nostalgic view into the days of the “Wild West.” Several Western movies were filmed at Harold’s, including Rafferty and the Gold Dust Twins, Electroglide in Blue, and Little Foss and Big Halsey. Photos of these movies are displayed throughout the restaurant along with many photos of celebrities who have visited Harold’s to experience first-hand it’s famous hospitality.

Though Cave Creek is 45 minutes from downtown Phoenix, the small town has retained much of its Western heritage. But on NFL Game Days, Western garb and cowboy boots are lost to a sea of “black and gold.” The Steelers tradition began in 1993 with about 75 fans per game.

As word spread that Steelers Country could be found in the heart of Cave Creek, more fans have been coming to Harold’s Cave Creek Corral to watch the games. Several Steelers greats have visited Harold’s, including Mel Blount, L.C. Greenwood, Merrill Hodge, Andy Russell, Mike Wagner, and Mike Merriweather.

A Pittsburgh native and 1987 graduate of Seton-La Salle High School, Piacquadio is a loyal Steelers fan who is dedicated to making sure his patrons feel like they are at home. To accommodate fans, he serves traditional Steelers delicacies, and employs a DJ who plays more than 40 Steelers songs.

Piacquadio’s father, Dan Sr., owns a restaurant in Mt. Lebanon called Piacquadios, and his cousin, Ray, owns a restaurant in Bethel Park called Pasta Too.

To reserve seats, call Harold’s Cave Creek Corral at (480) 488-1906 or for more information check out our website at www.haroldscorral.com.

Harold’s can also claim to be one of the top neighborhood bars in the nation. Maxim Magazine readers rated Harold’s to be the #1 “Greatest American Neighborhood Bar” in Phoenix. The July 2005 issue of Maxim featured the results of a reader survey among nine markets. Local readers chose the five best “neighborhood bars” in Phoenix, citing Harold’s Cave Creek Corral as the best. Harold’s was also chosen as the “Best Cowboy Bar” in the 2008 azcentral.com Reader’s Choice poll.
