What a year. What an ending. And what a new beginning.

As in life, all things eventually come to an end.

After the game Monday night—watching, cheering, hoping our Pittsburgh Steelers would find a way—it just wasn’t there. The defense showed flashes of brilliance. The offense struggled, lacking playmakers and inconsistent play-calling, and an aging quarterback facing a relentless defense. Aaron Rodgers did the best he could with the weapons he had, but we couldn’t run the ball, and we couldn’t stop the run. In this league, that’s the difference.

Still, I truly enjoyed this season—the challenges, the grind, the effort shown by the players and coaching staff, and spending time with all of you each gameday. I want to also give a big shout-out to the man, the myth, the legend, Jim Johnson, and his assistant volunteers from the Foothills food bank, Sharon and Ron Bykerk, and Jen Edelhauser. Monday night, we raised over $3000! Thank you to all who participated over the year, helping us raise close to $30,000 this year for the Foothills Food Bank.

Seeing Mike Tomlin step down is both sad and exciting at the same time. As in life, things come to an end, making room for new challenges and new possibilities. Coach Tomlin was a blessing to this organization and one of the best coaches to ever wear the headset. Nineteen seasons without a losing record speaks for itself. In the end, he simply didn’t have the playmakers, especially at the quarterback position, to push this team further.

Thank you, Coach Tomlin. You are a legend and forever part of the greatness of Pittsburgh Steelers history.

Just as it was when Chuck Noll retired after the 1991 season, this moment—tho emotional—is what’s best for the organization. Coach Tomlin recognized that, and that awareness alone speaks volumes about who he is.

To Steeler Nation and Harold’s Black and Gold Zone—thank you to every fan who makes us who we are. The best fans. The best Steeler bar. The best Steeler fan club. We are proud to stand with the Pittsburgh Steelers faithful.
